A Busy May...

It's been a busy May and there are two weeks to go.  We had a great ride to Historic Rugby led by Don G..  In Rugby they were having a Spring Festival, lots of things going on...something for everyone. The roads were great, lots of places for some spirited driving on a beautiful day.  A return trip to Rugby and on to Jamestown will be a ride we will do again this year.

ZDAYZ is this weekend..over 300 car pre-registered...will be a great time!

Z Club Ride - Four county ride to Rogersville, Tennessee

March 27, 2010

- Led by Dave and Dawn P

- Tour guide (via FRS radios) - Dawn P (thanks Dawn!!)

Dave and Dawn P. created, and led, a great ride that had some of the best driving roads in East Tennessee.  The ride took the group through four counties, going through two sections of road that Dawn so aptly named - The Rattlesnake. The curves and cutbacks rivaled those on the famous Tail of the Dragon.  The views were amazing throughout the ride.

We met at the Amber Restaurant on Raccoon Valley Road and after a good southern breakfast we headed out about 9am. The roads were well-paved and easy to drive.  We enoyed some great views as we made our way through the curves and dips, valleys and mountains throughout the ride. Two sections of the route that offered Tail of the Dragon type roads, with challenging curves, sharp cutbacks and twisting curves that made for great ride. The views from the top of the last mountain as we prepared to decend into Rogersville were amazing - at least for those riding. The drivers' views were of the curves and cutbacks that quickly came on the way down the mountain. After a couple of brief stops, we arrived in historic Rogersville shortly before noon.

The group broke out and enjoyed some of the unique shops including an artists's co-op with all types of artistic treasures to view and purchase, all in a gallery style, three-level shop.  The group gathered back together for lunch at McKinney's Restaurant located in the Hale Springs Inn.  Great good, great conversation and a safe trip home made for great day.  Thanks to Dawn and Dave for hosting the ride and being our tour guides y providing observations and dialouge during the trip via our FRS radios.

Hope more can join us for the April Z club ride to the roads known as The Snake in upper East Tennessee near Shady Valley, Tennessee.  Look for more details to come.
